What's Hot on Social Media
The social media industry is here to stay and with new sites joining routinely it’s sometimes hard to keep up. What I would suggest is to do the ones you are most comfortable using and if a new site comes into the mix give it a try and see what you think. It might be the next “What’s Hot.”
Most social media sites that we know and trust are Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and TikTok for social videos. This month I’ve enjoyed learning what’s new and updated on those sites.
Reels, TikTok Videos, and Shorts
Reels, TikTok videos, and Shorts seem to be the wave of the future. A recent article I read on Social Media Today talks about how the main social media sites are pushing greater reach with these types of selections. With a funny, informative reel and then at the end a call to action, it can spark quick interest in your company or product.

Social Commerce
Many of the social platforms now offer social commerce so you don’t have to leave the site to actually buy something. You can stay on Instagram or TikTok Shop and make a quick purchase — helping the consumer stay on one site and helping the sales process happen faster, making it a win for both parties.
AI Integration
AI integration is happening faster than we can blink an eye. There is more AI-generated content online than ever before. It’s making social media marketing easier for quick posts and content, but in many ways people want real content as well. A nice mix of AI creation along with original content seems to be the best practice at this time. I’ve found that AI has a computer feel to it and not as soft as a human touch. I’d recommend doing some personal testing and see what works.
Growing Online Communities
Communities are continuing to grow online. It’s fun to be a part of a good book club or business group where people share valuable tips and recommendations. Facebook seems to be the strongest community for groups, but TikTok has some amazing BookTok groups and other topics of interest that just take a quick search to find your niche or interest.
User Generated Content (UGC)
Have you heard of UGC — User Generated Content? This seems to be the most popular way for brands to increase awareness and connections. Content is created by users instead of the brand, with an understanding that they are giving their personal opinions of the brand and recommendations. The content creator posts the product in their video or photo and then shares their review along with a link or direction to the brand’s website or offer.
Which type of social media are you creating for your company? Would you like a personal one-on-one training to get set up with the latest social media sites and develop the best practices for your business?
